A compact SUV that represents the perfect combination of power and grace, the new Volvo XC40 is a multi-award-winning model that is acclaimed for its innovation and expressive design. Featuring high ground clearance and bold, muscular wheels, the exterior aesthetic is one of a bold off-roader, yet its compact dimensions ensure that it is agile and maneuverable around town and capable of squeezing into tight parking spots.
Inside, however, feels cavernous, with the delicate craftsmanship throughout delivering the optimum levels of comfort associated with the Volvo brand. Ambient lighting makes for a serene environment, while the panoramic roof enables light to pour into the cabin and enhance the sense of openness of the XC40. The chic Scandinavian finish of the cabin is also complemented by innovative technology, with the portrait-mode integrated touchscreen, adaptable storage compartments, and even wireless smartphone charging all adding to the appeal.
With a volume of 479 litres to the top of the rear backrests, the Volvo XC40 has one of the largest load compartments in its class.
The New XC40 will have three models in the range; Momentum, R-Design and Inscription, with the initial XC40s as the lavishly equipped First Edition versions.

A Place for Everything
The Volvo XC40 has smart storage features that make life less complicated, including door bins large enough for laptops and handbags, and an ingenious foldout takeaway hook. There’s even a bin under the centre armrest that will hold a full-size tissue box.
Loads better
Loading and unloading the Volvo XC40 is easy thanks to features such as a hands-free, power-operated tailgate. Simply move your foot under the rear bumper to open or close it automatically. There’s also a foldable, removable load floor and rear backrests that can be folded at the touch of a button.

An extra pair of eyes
City Safety – standard for every Volvo XC40 – is like having a co-pilot to look out for you. It identifies other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and large animals ahead, warning you if a collision is imminent. If you don’t react in time then it will brake automatically to help avoid or mitigate a collision.

Run-off road Mitigation helps to keep you safe by keeping you on the road. If this innovation detects you are about to leave the road unintentionally, it uses steering input and, if necessary, brake support to guide you back on track.

Day or night, our intelligent safety assistance technology can help you detect and avoid other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. It does this by first warning the driver then autobraking or through emergency steering support if the driver fails to react.*
Reverse with confidence
Cross traffic alert with autobrake supports the driver when reversing with limited view. The system can detect vehicles crossing behind and if needed, the autobrake can be applied.**
Ease stress in busy traffic
Our blind spot information system (BLIS) provides active support when changing lanes. If there is a risk of collision with other vehicles in the adjacent lane, BLIS can subtly adjust steering, helping keep you, your car and your loved ones right where you mean to be.
Stay in lane
Your Volvo can send a subtle vibration through the steering wheel and help steer you back to the centre if you unintentionally start to drift out of your lane.
Share information, avoid hazards
Using realtime weather, infrastructure and traffic information, connected safety enables communication of adverse conditions and other potential hazards between your car and other connected road users and vice versa. This can help you foresee danger and adapt your driving or route appropriately.
* Vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists moving in the same direction of the car can be detected under certain speeds and in certain conditions. Detection systems are dependent on objects being illuminated and require the vehicle’s front and rear lights to be working when it is dark. Driver remains responsible for safe driving at all times.
** Driver support functions are not a substitute for the driver’s attention and judgment. Cross traffic alert may have limited functionality in certain situations. Brake intervention is only active at lower speeds.
