Blis with Steer Assist & Cross Traffic Alert

Get alerts about vehicles you may not see coming.

When a vehicle is in one of your Volvo’s blind spots, you’ll see alert lights in that side view mirror. If you attempt to change lanes without using a turn signal, your Volvo will steer you back into your lane. If you continue to move out of the lane, you’ll hear alerts and feel vibrations from the steering wheel.

When you’re backing up and there’s a vehicle approaching from either side, you’ll hear an alert from the rear speaker on that side.

If your Volvo senses an impending rear-end collision, it activates your front seatbelt pretensioners.

These are all activated each time you start your car. To deactivate them, go to the Sensus home screen and swipe from left to right to open the Vehicle functions menu and press the corresponding button. A green light indicates it’s active, and gray indicates it’s off.

Please note that these are information systems — NOT warning or safety systems — and do not function in all situations. They do not eliminate the need for you to visually confirm the conditions around you, and the need for you to turn your head and shoulders to make sure that you can safely change lanes or back up. As the driver, you have full responsibility for changing lanes/backing up in a safe manner.
